Welcome to the EROP
website
EROP
(European Register for
Osteopathic Physicians) is an
umbrella
organisation for
medical osteopathic organisations in Europe. EROP
has defined standards for osteopathic physicians in
Europe; moreover, it regulates and coordinates the
training in osteopathic medicine for physicians.
According to the rules of EROP a qualified
osteopathic training includes an in-service training
from 700 hours minimum over a period of 4 years. The
training contents are determined in a basic
curriculum; the degree is a diploma in osteopathic
medicine. The graduates are registered with EROP.
After obtaining the diploma, it is necessary to give
evidence of a continuous further training in
osteopathic medicine, otherwise the diploma will
expire.
The EROP training concept also gains recognition
within the international osteopathic organisations (OIA
and WOHO); at the moment it is the only accepted
standard for osteopathic physicians in Europe.
"Declaration to Osteopathy",
is the title of a new EROP declaration to
osteopathy. Founded in the 19th century
by Dr. A.T. Still, osteopathy is still very popular
in the 21st century but it has to be
transformed into our modern knowledge society. EROP
defines the scientific and the health politic
framework for a European osteopathy.
