Somatic
Dysfunction (SD):
Somatic Dysfunction (SD) is an
impaired or
altered function of the interactive components of
the somatic system in the parietal, visceral and/or
cranio-sacral regions of the body.
SD’s are seen in dysfunctions within the
muscular-skeletal system as well as
the affiliated vascular, lymphatic, visceral and
neural elements.
Diagnostic criteria of a SD are abnormalities in the
tissue structure and tissue tension, an asymmetry
and a qualitative and quantitative change in the
range of motion.
